TUUM, a young, Brussels-based collective, surprises you with fresh vibes, resonant sound worlds and pumping rhythms. The four protagonists improvise to their hearts’ content and breathe fresh life into an archetypical instrument from the percussion section, namely the cymbals. The central masterpiece is Tune for suspended cymbals, a composition by Mario Bertoncini. The work is an exploration of the melodic dimensions that these percussion instruments create. Later in the programme, the rhythmic fantasies culminate in a kaleidoscope of robust rhythms, live electronics and a sublime isotheral ambiance.
